Welcome to East Central Branch website! With the support of our numerous member-volunteers, we had many successful community outreach activities in February. We volunteered at the Orange County and Seminole County science fairs, Central Florida Engineers Week and Mathcounts. Our Orlando Science Center Infrastructure Exhibit team continues to make progress on the design of the exhibit. I want to convey my sincere thanks to these wonderful volunteers for taking time to make our community a better place and for helping our future generation of students. The coming months are packed with activities that are targeted to educating and entertaining our members as well as supporting our community. We sincerely appreciate the support of the sponsoring organizations for these events and urge other central Florida organizations to extend their support. Please participate in these activities and have fun. We look forward to seeing you at these events.

On February 27, a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurred in Chile, about 56 miles northeast of the city of Concepción. ASCE is working with our longstanding partner, the American Red Cross to support relief efforts with a financial contribution. Finally, ASCE national is asking for the support of all engineers to contact their members of congress and urge them to pass the Surface Transportation Program Reauthorization.
